UNECE adopts two new Regulations to improve the Safety of Vulnerable Road Users

The limited ability of drivers to detect and see correctly pedestrians in close proximity of their vehicle is a key cause of accidents, both for cars and light vehicles, and for heavy duty vehicles. Two new UN regulations adopted recently by UNECE's World Forum for the Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29) to address this issue will significantly increase the safety of vulnerable road users.

Polestar 2 Electric Vehicle achieves U.S. NCAP 5-Star Safety Rating

World first: Mercedes-Benz and Bosch Driverless Parking System approved for Commercial Use

article imageMercedes-Benz and Bosch have reached an important milestone on the way to automated driving: Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) has approved their highly automated parking system for use in the P6 parking garage run by APCOA at Stuttgart Airport. This makes it the world s first highly automated driverless parking function (SAE Level 4) to be officially approved for commercial use.

Cepton, ALP.Lab, and TE Connectivity complete joint V2X Proof of Concept, "Periscope"

article imageCepton, Inc., ALP.Lab GmbH and TE Connectivity have completed a proof of concept project that confirms the ability of an integrated system to warn drivers of unseen hazards ahead. Named "Periscope", the project successfully extended a driver's field of view by using lidar sensors mounted at the intersection to "look around the corner" and warn of a wayward pedestrian approximately five seconds before they would be visible otherwise.

MicroVision acquires Ibeo Automotive Systems

article imageMicroVision, Inc. announced the signing of an agreement to acquire certain assets from Hamburg, Germany-based, Ibeo Automotive Systems GmbH, for up to 15 million euros. The acquisition combines MAVIN lidar with Ibeo perception software features into the MicroVision ASIC for automotive OEMs. In addition, this acquisition expands MicroVision's multi-market strategy focusing on industrial, smart infrastructure, robotics, and commercial vehicle segments with Ibeo's flash-based sensor.

Quectel presents C-V2X Module AG18 to enhance Driving Safety and Efficiency

CETECOM launches the first-ever Automotive Experience Lab

This innovative testing center, which opens on November 1, 2022 in Silicon Valley, is designed as a proof-of-concept lab for automotive application testing in a simulated environment. CETECOM, with more than 25 years experience in testing and certifying RF devices, leads the project, which will enable automotive engineers to validate component-level hardware designs during the HIL phase.
