ASU Research ensures Autonomous Vehicle Safety, Reliability

article imageAs autonomous vehicles continue to advance at an unprecedented pace, ensuring their safety is a main concern shaping the future of transportation. This multibillion-dollar industry has attracted many companies to Phoenix, which is seen as an ideal test bed for this technology because of its consistent weather, grid-like road system and relatively low levels of traffic compared with other major metropolitan areas. Waymo has been testing autonomous vehicles in the Valley since 2017 and could shortly be followed by Apple and Tesla as they also work to develop their own autonomous vehicle technology.

Car vs. Semi-trailer with fatal Consequences for the Occupants

article imageAs part of a conference for insurers, the crash team led by Ralf Bührmann and Kai Schulte carried out a high-speed crash test with fatal consequences for the occupants. Due to the collision with the trailer, the entire body of the car was sheared off. Since the rear underride guard, but especially the side underride guard, are almost ineffective, there is no chance of survival for the occupants in these accidents, which are constantly recurring all over the world.
