 First Partial Driving Automation Safeguard Ratings show Industry has work to doThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is introducing a new rating program encourage automakers to incorporate more robust safeguards into their partial driving automation systems. To increase the safety of young children in cars, studies have shown that the most effective strategy is to increase the use of rearward facing CRS for children up to 4-5 years age. The Folksam CRS rating program 2023 included the evaluation of three categories, first the ability to enable rearward facing use to at least 4-5 years of age, second the presence of safety features that lower injury risk in case of a crash and finally the inclusion of design features known to minimize user mistakes that reduce the protective abilities of the CRS.
According to the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, almost 48 % of all road traffic injuries in 2022 were in the vulnerable road user group, which includes cyclists and pedestrians, for example. Because they are not protected by a passenger cell, they have an increased risk of injury or death. To avoid such accidents or at least reduce the severity of accidents, vehicles are increasingly being equipped with driver assistance systems such as emergency brake systems.

OxTS' regional support team in China received an invitation from the Site Operations department of the Sichuan Test Base for Sino-German Intelligent Connected Vehicles to establish pointcloud data in the core test area of the Sino-German Test Site. The reason for the survey was to support pre-research work in the areas of scene library establishment, automatic cloud testing, digital twin testing, and digital proving ground management.
