On November 11 - 12, 2026 carhs.training and the Bioengineering Center of Wayne State University, Detroit (USA) will jointly host the 12th Human Modeling Symposium in Aschaffenburg, Germany. 
By leveraging the Rescale digital engineering platform architected on NVIDIA AI infrastructure, McLaren has transformed traditional, fragmented engineering cycles into a unified, high-speed data loop. The results? Reducing complex simulation times from days to minutes and freeing their world-class engineers to focus on pure innovation.
Since the mass is one of the main factors influencing the fuel consumption of vehicles, increasing demands to reduce energy usage and CO2 emissions, force the automotive industry to consider the use of alternative designs and new materials. Composite materials have proven their potential to reduce the weight of structures in many applications (e.g. aerospace and motorsports). As composites have a special set-up and behave completely different than traditional materials, engineers must learn how to employ these materials to take advantage of their special characteristics in the design of vehicle structures. In the seminar real world examples are used to create a basic understanding of designing composite structures. Then the theoretical and practical foundations of composite design are explained.

Your linear FEA results say the bracket is fine. The prototype just cracked in testing. What went wrong? Chances are, the part entered the plastic range. While your linear model flagged the high stress, it couldn't tell you what happens next. Does the part redistribute load and survive? Does it deform permanently but still function? Or does it fail catastrophically?
In the research project Cross-Company Material Data and Material Simulation in Production, PMD-X-MAPRO, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, researchers and industry are working to make material data available in a digital and machine-readable format. The goal is to prepare information about material properties and manufacturing data in such a way that it can be automatically used and exchanged along the entire supply chain.
As part of the large scale innovation initiative NXT GEN AI METHODS (nxtAIM), IPG Automotive continues to strengthen its role in supporting next generation AI technologies for autonomous driving. More than 20 organizations from across the automotive industry - OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, technology companies, and research institutes - have joined forces in the three year project launched in early 2024 to leverage generative AI for perception, prediction, and planning in automated driving systems.
Ever wondered how engineers figure out whether a new car design will slice through the air efficiently, or whether an electronics enclosure will overheat under load? They don't always build a physical prototype and test it in a wind tunnel or test bench. Instead, they turn to Computational Fluid Dynamics, or CFD.
A new company has emerged from successful research in digital tire development: VTT - Virtual Tire Technologies GmbH, a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM, was launched in February 2026 to sustainably meet the rapidly growing global demand for the tire modeling software "CDTire" and to further develop the technology. The Fraunhofer ITWM and VTT will continue to work closely together in the future.
The Computational Chemistry Consortium (C3) has published two reduced chemical mechanisms, C3MechLite and C3MechCore, based on their detailed kinetic model for surrogate fuels, C3MechV4.0.1. C3 is led by Convergent Science, with a research team comprised of chemical kinetic experts from the University of Galway, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Politecnico di Milano, and RWTH Aachen University. "We wanted to create a reduced mechanism that is comparable in size to GRI-Mech, but with chemistry that more accurately predicts fuel reactivity, particularly at gas turbine- and engine-relevant conditions of temperature and pressure," says Professor Henry Curran, C3 Technical Director.
The COMSOL Multiphysics® software includes functionality for creating and using data-driven surrogate models, which are simplified, computationally efficient models that approximate the behavior of more complex and often more expensive simulations. Thanks to their relative simplicity, surrogate models have many practical uses, such as enhancing app interactivity and accelerating optimization and uncertainty quantification tasks.
