"Cooperative Vision" of Automated Cars protects Cyclists

article imageThere are times in traffic situations when cyclists are difficult to detect even for the most advanced vehicle sensors - for example, when they are obscured for a few seconds by a stopping bus. In the project Reallabor Hamburg Fraunhofer FOKUS used its Eclipse MOSAIC simulation framework to demonstrate that uninterrupted object detection can be achieved by fusing LIDAR data from multiple automated cars, thus providing even better protection for particularly vulnerable road users in the future.

Innovative Method for capturing Load Data in Customer Use

article imageVehicle tests can be time-consuming and expensive on account of the large number of sensors required for comprehensive measurement data acquisition. The durability transfer process is based on high precision accelerometers from ASC and is used by MAN Truck & Bus SE among others. The monitoring specialist, monalysis, a partner of ASC, has therefore developed a method that allows these tests to be carried out far more cost-effectively than before.
