 First Vehicle passes new U.S. NCAP Advanced Driver Assistance System TestsThe National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that the later release 2026 Tesla Model Y is the first vehicle model to pass the agency's new benchmark for vehicles with advanced driver assistance systems. These pass/fail tests - which have recently been added to NHTSA's United States New Car Assessment Program - ensures consumers have the information they need to assess the safety benefits of new technologies.

The China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd. (CATARC) has published the C-NCAP Management Regulation 2027 in English. The C-NCAP Management Regulation (2027 Edition) will be officially implemented from July 1, 2027 onwards.
A study by TU Graz, financed by the Austrian Road Safety Fund, shows that women have a 60 per cent higher injury risk in car accidents compared to men. This is especially true for female passengers and older women. Cars have become increasingly safe over the past few decades. However, not all groups of people benefit equally from this.

Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. has developed a new self-supporting front center airbag as a new lineup of its safety systems. Front center airbags are installed between the driver and front passenger seats to help prevent occupants from colliding with each other in side impacts. Conventional front center airbags rely on the center console box for support during deployment, ensuring the airbag remains upright and effectively absorbs occupant movement.
The research project AI-SAFe - Adaptive Occupant Safety for Automated Driving at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) is being funded with around one million euros by the Bavarian Transformation and Research Foundation. The project aims further to enhance the safety of vehicle occupants in automated driving and contribute to Vision Zero, which seeks to achieve zero road deaths.
