First Vehicle passes new U.S. NCAP Advanced Driver Assistance System Tests

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that the later release 2026 Tesla Model Y is the first vehicle model to pass the agency's new benchmark for vehicles with advanced driver assistance systems. These pass/fail tests - which have recently been added to NHTSA's United States New Car Assessment Program - ensures consumers have the information they need to assess the safety benefits of new technologies.

Car Safety: Women are 60 Percent more likely to be injured than Men

article imageA study by TU Graz, financed by the Austrian Road Safety Fund, shows that women have a 60 per cent higher injury risk in car accidents compared to men. This is especially true for female passengers and older women. Cars have become increasingly safe over the past few decades. However, not all groups of people benefit equally from this.

NHTSA published Lane Keeping Assist Draft Research Test Procedure

article imageThis draft research test procedure provides specifications used by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to research Lane Keeping Assist system performance on light vehicles with gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR) of up to 4,536 kg (10,000 lbs.). Two test track-based assessments are defined. A performance assessment is used to evaluate how LKA systems respond to an imminent lane departure resulting from a lateral velocity representative of an unintended drift.

Toyoda Gosei develops new self-supporting Front Center Airbag

article imageToyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. has developed a new self-supporting front center airbag as a new lineup of its safety systems. Front center airbags are installed between the driver and front passenger seats to help prevent occupants from colliding with each other in side impacts. Conventional front center airbags rely on the center console box for support during deployment, ensuring the airbag remains upright and effectively absorbs occupant movement.

One million Euros in Funding for THI Project on Safety in Automated Driving

EU Testing of Child Car Seats reveals multiple Failures
